The oil-free pencils are produced from a mixture of soot and clay. Available as individual stick or in assorted sets. 3-GENERAL'S #375 CARBO-WELD SCRIBE UNSHARPENED No.2 HB PENCILS 3-Patriotic-Semester 340 by Venus Founded in 1860 as the American Lead Pencil Co., the New Jersey-based manufacturer changed its name in 1956 to match their popular line of Venus pencils (which were first introduced in 1905). 5-DIXON Special Black 312 Brand: Joseph Dixon began as the "Joseph Dixon Crucible Company" (Joseph Dixon: 1799-1869) with its main manufacturing facility in Jersey City, New Jersey. Dixon was an inventor who received patents in 1850 for the use of graphite crucibles in pottery and steel manufacturing. He died in 1869. Dixon’s son-in-law, Orestes Cleveland, took over as president of the company in 1858. Cleveland served as both mayor of Jersey City as well as a short stint in the U.S. House of Representatives (1869-1871). In 1873 the company bought the American Graphite Company located in Ticonderoga, New York, and in 1913 began integrating the name into its brand as "Dixon Ticonderoga." In 2005, Dixon Ticonderoga was acquired by Italian-based FILA. 3-Prang Drawing No. 2264 Brand: Prang (American Crayon Company)  Named after Louis Prang, "the father of educational art in America". Established in 1835, Prang is the original brand of the American Crayon Company, very much like Venus Velvet is a brand of the American Pencil Company. Later to be manufactured by Dixon and now part of the Fila Group Company.
