One of a kind original newspaper illustration art featuring baseball hall of famer Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox . Reverse is stamped " USED MAY 12 1955 " indicating the date this actually published. The signed artist of the piece, Bill Pevear, was from the Boston area and worked as an illustrator for the Boston Garden as well as for the Christian Science Monitor. The original owner of the estate from which this piece came also worked for the Monitor as a typesetter and printer and likely worked with Pevear. The last two photos are scans from page 9 of the sports section in the Christian Science Monitor from May 12th, 1955 where this appeared in print ( it may have been syndicated in other papers as well ) - the newspaper is not included in the sale (shown for provenance only). Good sized piece measuring about 11 1/4" by 13 1/4". Ink, pencil and dot paper (attached on the uniforms of the smaller cartoon players) on what seems to be a synthetic medium, "GLARCO NO. 12" paper (this company appears to be defunct). The paper is textured with small bumps that give it the classic newsprint dot pattern in some areas. Good overall condition - some discoloration as as shown from age including a few larger spots (as seen in 5th photo). Light wear to corners, somewhat rounded. Small hole in the upper center, looks like from a tack. Reverse has stamp from the newspaper indicating the piece's use in publication. There is some remnant adhesive paper on the reverse that used to be an order slip used to move this from department to department. Please let me know if you have any questions prior to purchase. I currently have other previously published pieces available by the same artist (also circa 1954/1955) available in separate listings: Swimming Hall of Famer Florence ChadwickFellow Red Sox players Jackie Jenson and and Sammy White ̶F̶e̶l̶l̶o̶w̶ ̶H̶a̶l̶l̶-̶o̶f̶-̶F̶a̶m̶e̶r̶ ̶W̶i̶l̶l̶i̶e̶ ̶M̶a̶y̶s̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶N̶e̶w̶ ̶Y̶o̶r̶k̶ ̶G̶i̶a̶n̶t̶s̶ (SOLD)
