AMERICAN PENCIL DRAWING (19th century - 1827), ADIRONDACK SCENE  -
The drawing measures  5 3/4 by 9  inches and is executed in pencil on a cream light weight wove paper.  The paper has a very large watermark:  SMITH & Co   TURKEY MILL   1827
The Turkey Mill paper mill was founded in Tyringham, Massachusetts by Elizur Smith.  Most of the information we have found on the mill gives a founding date of 1833 but we did find a posted letter from 1828 written on watermarked 1827 paper.
