This ori ginal colore d penc il draw ing comes from the City of Roses, Portland, Oregon.  Because of our wet and moderate climate roses of a broad variety thrive here. Some varities will thrive nearly all year long. Roses are a favorite subject of artists in Portland and throughout the area.  This piece is one of the better I have seen.  Just as a bit of information as to how well roses grow here. Portland is often a test ground for new rose varities.  My wife and I had quite a yard full of beautiful roses.  One variety was a "Blue" rose that truly was blue.  It was an amazing rose bush. Unfortunately, the blue rose is a cross between several other rose varieties, and the nature of the rose is that it will return to its former dominant self. We had a lovely blue rose for about three years, and following that the rose slowly slowly returned to a red rose which bloomed for many years. I know that that information has nothing at all to do with this painting that is for sale. I will ship this original artwork throughout the 48 lower states.
