Elizabeth Day is a self-taught oil painter and pastellier whose style consists of traditionally represented themes, imbued with subtle yet compelling emotion. Over recent years her fascination with race horses and the people who work with them has grown, leading to a focus on the courageous thoroughbreds that grace the turf. Elizabeth creates bespoke artwork that truly captures unique racing moments. Elizabeth lives and works in Somerset, on the edge of the beautiful Quantock hills. She excelled at art during her academic education in the mid-eighties, however her love of horses drove her to pursue a career in the equine industry. She worked with horses for many years, mostly training young horses for competitions. During her career she studied equine anatomy and behavior at Bicton College of Agriculture, which granted her a deep understanding of horses – and from an artistic point of view, a creative advantage.
