Felix Octavius Carr Darley (June 23, 1822 – March 27, 1888) Military Scene Original Art ( c. 1850) An important
illustrator of works by such famous authors as Washington Irving, Charles Dickens, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Clement Clarke Moore
and H. Beecher Stowe, Darley seems to have bestowed this fine
miniature to an acquaintance, according to the severely faded and
smudged handwriting at the lower margin. Another pencilled
inscription, likewise only party decipherable, appears to state a
publishing pedigree. Centuried mysteries aside, this fine
composition is a vivid representation of a prolific and soulful
artist in his historic prime. Graphite on textured stock. Image
area, 9" x 7". Severely creased at center. Intact, however, overall in Good condition. We have over 30 years of experience in the animation and fine art world, you
