A handsome hand drawn architectural study by French artist Georges-Henri Manesse (1854-1940). The drawing is executed in graphite on age toned wove paper and it measures 8 1/8 x 10 1/2 inches. The front is signed in pencil and the reverse is inscribed in ink; "Maison natale de Millet a Greville (Manche) par Manasse". As they both hailed from Normandy, it is likely that Manasse would have idolized the great artist Millet. The drawing may well be the original for one of Manasse's series of architectural etchings, it is in excellent condition and ready for framing. Georges-Henri Manesse (1854-1940) was a well regarded French engraver and etcher. He studied under the masters; Léopold Flameng, Eugene Gaujean and Alphonse Lamotte. Manesse was founder and president of the Société Normande de Gravure. He was also a member of the Salon des Artistes Français and exhibited with them, winning bronze and silver medals and the Bellin-Dollet prize in 1922. https://blog.paris-libris.com/manesse-georges-henri-le-vieux-paris-sen-va-iere-serie/
