Luigi Kasimir, Austro-Hungarian born etcher, printmaker, landscape artist.He was inspired by various places he traveled during his life.Born in 1881 in the Slovenian town of Pettau,he emerged from a family of artists. His father, a renowned painter,inspired his son. Luigi’s grandfather, was a painter/poet who also fed Luigi’s passion for art and nature.
Luigi studied at the Vienna Academy of Art under William Unger, where he discovered etching.He used this knowledge and his love of painting to develop a unique style of printmaking known as the multiple plate color etching. He changed the future of etching and printmaking as a whole at the turn of the 20th century.
Before he advanced this process, the majority of print makers would only use black and white ink. Artists would add color to the etchings by hand but many would turn out looking poorly done and not precise. Kasimir developed a more complex etching process. His etchings require printing separate plates one after another. For one print, he would use as many as six separate metal plates.
Luigi Kasimir was internationally praised and well-known during his life. He passed in 1962 in Grinzing, Vienna, leaving behind a legacy. THE PAINTING IS APPROX. 13.75 INCHES HIGH X 26 INCHES WIDE. THE FRAME IS APPROX. 23 INCHES HIGH X 34.5 INCHES WIDE. PLEASE LOOK OVER PAINTING AND FRAME CAREFULLY.The color may not appear exactly as it does in the painting due to lighting, type and quality of camera being used.The matting and frame are for the purpose of protecting the artwork and came that way from the estate and may have damage, chips, discoloration, etc. but the artwork is 100% as described and pictured. I will not remove the frame or backing or matting for any reason as to prevent any damage. This items matting is discolored and damaged slightly but in no way affects the integrity of my actual artwork. I am once again liquidating my late mother in law’s estate which includes many art pieces. She was a lawyer with her own law firm and the cities Mayor.
