This is a fantastic looking vintage signed and numbered lithograph of an artist's studio by very famous American artist Raphael Soyer. It is number 134 of 150. It is also pencil signed by the artist. I was told the subject matter is Raphael Soyer's studio. The colored portion of the print measures 12" x 17".
This is a more rare and personal subject matter for this artist as it is a still life and of his own studio. Please see photos for artistic design and please ask questions. Shipping quoted is without the frame though shipping with the frame can be worked out for the cost of shipping the larger and heavier package. Thank you. Artist's Bio Raphael Soyer (1899 – 1997)
Raphael Soyer was a Russian-born American painter, referred to as an American scene painter. Also identified as a Social Realist because of his renditions of men and women in contemporary settings.
During his education he persistently investigated a number of themes in his paintings, drawings, watercolors, and prints. These included female nudes, portraits of friends and family, New York and its people. Soyer was strongly opposed to the dominant force of abstract art, defending his stance by saying “I choose to be a realist and a humanist in art.”
His work is in numerous museums including the Museum of Modern Art, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University, The Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C., The New York Public Library, New York, Tel Aviv Museum, Israel, Uffizi Gallery, Florence, Italy and Los Angeles County Museum, California.
