Ten 1.0 mm leads for
Victorian mechanical pencils
"M" was one of the most commonly-used pencil lead sizes for 19th-century propelling pencils, but is now completely unavailable. "M" lead is slightly over 1mm, around 1.03 to 1.05 mm. Our lead listed here measures a true 1.0 mm, so it may be slightly loose in an "M" nozzle. The nozzle can either be gently squeezed to narrow its opening, or the lead can be rubbed with beeswax or given a thin coat of shellac for a perfect fit.
NOTE: We are not selling Victorian pencil nozzles -- the photo at top is of the sort of pencil that uses the lead we are selling.
Many modern manufacturers of mechanical pencils and mechanical pencil lead refills round off the diameters of their products. As a result, you will find a number of companies that sell lead labeled as 1.0 mm, all of which is actually 0.9 mm. Our leads are a true 1.0 mm, and the closest fit for Victorian pencils that cannot accommodate modern 1.1 mm lead. Payment
We are glad to combine shipping charges on multiple purchases, but it is vital that the proper checkout method be used. When buying more than one item, use the Add to Cart button -- NOT the Buy It Now button. View your cart when you are ready to complete the purchase, and if the total shipping charge is incorrect, do NOT pay. Instead, click the Request Total link at the top right and we will send you a corrected invoice. Terms of Sale
We strongly believe in full and explicit description of any condition problems or flaws, and in very conservative grading. We stand behind our descriptions -- buy with confidence. About Us vintagepens
