Vtg Purina Chows Ad Pencil

VTG PURINA CHOWS AD PENCIL FLAT OVERSIZED ERASER SHARPENED USA MADE LAST CENTURY. This pencil is vintage, but I have been unable to determine its exact age. The advertising section lists phone numbers for the business “The Hobart-Bowlus Co.” using just two digits – “54 & 41,” indicating it was manufactured sometime within the first half of the 20 th century. The company is marked as being located in “Pemberville, Ohio,” and being “Made in the USA.” The pencil has been sharpened and is currently 6 ¼” in length. The majority of the pencil is the red, white, and blue checkered pattern of squares used by the Purina Chows Company. On one side is written in capital letters, “PURINA CHOWS.” The eraser is intact but hard and has an aged patina. The metal that holds the eraser is in shiny condition and holds the square eraser tightly. The wear and fading on the pencil that comes with age can be seen in my photos.
